Harrogate & Knaresborough Toy Library

A charity running play sessions and a toy borrowing service for 0-4+ year olds
Activity

Knaresborough Toy Library run play sessions and a toy borrowing service for 0-4 year olds.

Their ever expanding library of toys, educational resources and equipment has been carefully curated by their team and they are extremely passionate about what they do! As a member, you can borrow anything in the library - in fact, they quite often say, if it’s not nailed down, you can borrow it! They very much believe in reducing waste and inspiring a more sustainable way of living to our children. By borrowing toys, not only are you keeping things interesting for your child but you are also helping to reduce your environmental impact, saving money and supporting a local charity.

But....Knaresborough Toy Library are so much more than a library! In addition to the borrowing service, they also run play sessions at their Knaresborough base and elsewhere. The play sessions are fun and friendly, incorporating craft activities, messy play, role play, physical fun, stories and songs. They also offer hot drinks & a biscuit for grown ups. Play sessions are planned and set up to facilitate and encourage you to engage in play with your child. There are also friendships formed and much support offered, so there is a huge Toy Library ‘family’.

Toy Borrowing is available through a click and collect service. You can swap your toys during our play sessions & additionally on the 1st & 3rd Saturday of the month. Either way, please book to borrow so that your toys will be ready for you.

Annual membership of the Toy Library costs £35 and you can borrow up to 2 toys for up to 2 weeks at a time. Individual play sessions are £4 plus 50p per additional child - they can only accept card payments. For members of the Toy Library, entry to play sessions is £3.50 plus 50p per additional child. You are very welcome to bring along your own snacks (but please avoid nuts!) Drinks will be available for grown ups but please bring your own reusable cup. Toilet and baby change facilities will be open - please take nappies away with you to dispose of off site. There is parking in the St Mary’s Church car park which is available for Toy Library users to use. However, be aware that the car park is quite small! If you are not exchanging large toys, there is also alternative disc zone parking near the train station or a pay and display at Conyngham Hall - if you pay to park in an alternative car park, the Toy Library will discount the price of a 2 hour parking ticket from your entry fee!
